The modules are one resource that may be used in addition to other forms of self-study such as text books, journal articles, and other online resources. In addition, educators may find them useful as a framework or supplement for didactic lessons. The modules are not intended to be the primary or sole source of information for residents preparing for board exams.

Learning Objectives:
- Identify the characteristics of each component of a film-screen image receptor.
- Describe the processing of a radiographic film and the importance of processor quality control.
- Identify the characteristics of the various radiographic intensifying screens and the importance of each.
- Discuss the five principal approaches to digital radiography and the subsets of computed, direct, and indirect digital radiography.
- Apply the recommended quality control measures for digital display devices.
- Assess the patient dose considerations attendant to digital radiography and the substitution of “technique creep” for “dose creep”.
