Amy K. Patel, MD

Amy K. Patel, MD, is a board-certified radiologist who specializes in breast imaging. She is the medical director of The Breast Care Center at Liberty Hospital and associate professor of radiology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine.  Her professional interests include recruitment of women in radiology, mentorship and social media. Her research interests include breast health policy, equity, AI and political advocacy in radiology. 

 Dr. Patel serves as chair of the American College of Radiology’s (ACR) Association Radiology Advocacy Network and RADPAC, is an associate editor for digital media for the Journal of the American College of Radiology, is a past president of the American Association for Women in Radiology, and a former ACR Rutherford Lavanty Fellow in government relations. She is also the first female and youngest radiology recipient of the ACR Howard Fleishon, MD, Advocate of the Year Award. 

As a staunch patient advocate, she helped pass a bill in the state of Missouri in 2018 that ensures annual screening 2D and 3D mammography coverage begins at age 40 for women at average risk. As a result of her advocacy efforts, she received the 2021 Kansas City Medical Society's Patient and Community Advocate Award. She also received the 2022 Kansas City Chiefs Fan of the Year award as a result of her efforts to close the breast care disparity gap and for her love of the team. In 2024, she was named in two 40 under 40 lists: Ingram's and Radiology Business.

Leonard Marquez

As senior director of government relations and legislative advocacy at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), Leonard Marquez serves as the primary contact for congressional staff and legislators. He is the lead association advocate on issues such as graduate medical education, Medicare and Medicaid payments, and the physician workforce.  
 
Prior to joining the AAMC in 2009, Marquez gained more than 15 years of experience in government relations at the Cleveland Clinic and The MetroHealth System in Cleveland, Ohio, and in the office of U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine (R-Ohio) in Washington, D.C.  
 
Marquez holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from Xavier University and a master’s degree in journalism and public affairs from American University.
