Physical child abuse unfortunately remains all too common, and radiologists play an important role in the care of these patients through the use of imaging. Knowledge of characteristic imaging findings of child abuse, as well as potential mimics or alternatives, is essential to making an accurate diagnosis in these cases. Radiologists are also increasingly being called on to provide testimony when these cases end up in a courtroom. In this series of lectures, our experts will offer key insights into several aspects of this topic, including neuroimaging of abusive head trauma, distinguishing findings of abuse from metabolic bone disease on skeletal surveys, and how to prepare yourself when you receive a subpoena to testify.
