This program provides a focused review of the essentials of pediatric imaging, intended to support non-pediatric radiologists, technologists and APPs providing pediatric radiology services in the community setting. It emphasizes how pediatric radiology differs from adult imaging, with attention to anatomy, pathology and radiation considerations. Through didactic lectures, case based teaching and hands-on experiences, the program helps attendees gain confidence in interpreting pediatric studies safely and accurately.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the key differences between pediatric and adult imaging, including radiation safety principles, appropriate protocol selection, and developmental anatomy considerations.
  • Identify common pediatric emergency imaging presentations and select the most appropriate modality for evaluation, with emphasis on neuro, chest, abdominal/pelvic, and musculoskeletal pathology.
  • Perform common fluoroscopic exams in children including upper GI, lower GI and VCUG.

University of Chicago
Dr. Rich Heller is a pediatric radiologist, Senior Vice President of Health Policy for Radiology Partners and Clinical Associate at the University of Chicago. Dr. Heller is on the Economics Commission of the American College of Radiology and is a past board member of the Radiological Society of North America and an incoming trustee of the RSNA Research & Education Foundation. 

Leslie Partridge  
Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center
Leslie Partridge is a Registered Radiologist Assistant at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Her focus is on the performance of fluoroscopy procedures and providing fluoroscopy procedure education for radiology residents, radiologic technologists and radiologic technology students. She has presented at a state level for OSRT and at a national level for SRPE, AHRA and SAR. She has published for AHRA and edited chapters for a radiographic pathology textbook.

The Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
