Physician-Physician and Physician-Patient Interactions (2018)
Keyword(s)
EP1802, Ethics and Professionalism, Professionalism (including Ethics)
Description
This course is not available for CME credit. Underlying all professional interactions are the principles of respect for persons, beneficence, and justice, as defined by the Belmont Report. Professional communication among physicians from different specialties, although not traditionally emphasized during radiology training, is beginning to be formally taught during radiology residency through efforts from multiple medical organizations. Structured around three scenarios, this course highlights the importance of physician-physician and physician-patient interactions. Each scenario incorporates the principles of beneficence and medical professionalism and presents an ethical challenge for key stakeholders in the scenario. Following each scenario, an explanation of the ethical underpinnings is provided along with relevant details to assist in making ethical decisions.
